FROM CASCAIS TRIATHLON TO IRONMAN 70.3
Creating the Cascais triathlon has been one of the most extraordinary tasks thus far undertaken in Portugal in this sporting modality.
This historic location, full of history, beautiful scenery, kind and gentle people, and top level hotel facilities, has brought both colour, and what they were looking for– an event that leaves its mark- into its participants´ lives.
The herculean task of getting what is logistically an extremely exigent event ´up to spec´ resulted in the success that we anticipated for it, with thousands of athletes, accompanied by their families, friends and colleagues, visiting Cascais and bringing this location to the notice of the triathlon world at large.
As a result, the World Triathlon Corporation, which has the biggest races in the world under its banner, invited Cascais to represent Portugal on the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship circuit, from 2017 onwards. A choice that honours Cascais, our country and 3 Iron Sports.
2014
Estoril enchants with the 3 Iron Sports second edition, the cold water and the wind in this edition do not frighten more than 600 athletes.

2013
In 2013 3 Iron Sports recovers the Estoril Triathlon. In just 3 years, it became a national event among the biggest triathlon events in Portugal. The return of the mythical event happened with more than 550 participants and its quality was dominant.
The future of the modality is written in the Municipality of Cascais, which places Portugal on the map of the world’s largest IRONMAN’s destinations.
