Medical Problems in Triathletes.

Doctor specialising in physical, rehabilitative and sports medicine, and the clinical lead of the High Performance Training Centre of the Portuguese Institute of Sports in Jamor. Initiated his career as the accompanying physician to a sporting club, collaborating with the National Handball and Athletics Federations. Dr Beckert has played an active part in the Lisbon Centre of Sports Medicine for over a quarter of a century.

Has a special interest in the areas of traumatology and in the prevention of sporting injuries; the physiology of exercise, altitude training and adaptation; and in mathematical modelling of the response and adaptation to stress.
